Being overweight expose you to a lot oh health risk such as heart diseases and diabetes. Therefore every time when it comes to a New Year, a lot of people will want to lose weight and set it as one of their New Year resolutions.

A lot of people who are excessively overweight tend to think that losing those pounds of stomach fat is not possible for them. But as long as you have a plan to achieve your goals, you will be able to achieve it sooner or later. What is important here is to know what are your long term goals and short term goals. By determining the duration of your goals, you will stand a higher chance to lose those pounds of stomach fat that have been with you for years.

Let me share with you some tips on how you can lose weight with proper planning and goal setting:

1. Setting realistic goals

When it comes to weight loss, most people set goals which are too ambitious. For example, if you are currently weighing 200 pounds and you set a short term plan to shed 100 pounds, this is not a realistic goal.

To lose weight effectively, you need to have a sensible weight loss plan that will guide you step by step to achieve your target weight.

2. Determining your objectives to lose weight

To succeed in doing something, you need to have a very compelling objective or reason so that you will not lose track of your goal. Losing weight just for vanity’s sake is usually less helpful than losing weight to improve health.

Other than just exercising, you need to have a healthy diet so that you will have a better body and more energy to be positive throughout the day.

3. Focus on doing, not how much you are going to lose

By focusing on how many times you are going to exercise per week rather than setting how much pounds you going to lose per week, you will definitely be able to come out with a more effective weight loss plan.

As long as you have the discipline to attend all the exercise session that you have plan out per week, weight loss will come naturally.

4. Losing fat step by step

Let say if you have set a goal to lose 20 pounds after 1 month, you need to break down to how much pounds you are going to lose per week. Then plan out how many times you are going to exercise per week and what are the foods that you need to take to achieve your 1 week goal. By achieving weekly goals, you will definitely be able to achieve your final goal.

5. Having self-motivation

You need to always encourage yourself to achieve the goals that you have set. Learn to evaluate your efforts fairly and objectively. If you fail to achieve your target for the week, find out why is it so. Is it because you have missed a jogging session? Or you have been eating junk food for one of the days?

After evaluating, look ahead to next week and try your best to stick to your plan.

Fat Burning Herbs - Lose Weight By Speeding Up Metabolism!

In the on going battle to lose weight, one approach that is frequently overlooked is the many fat burning herbs that can supplement healthy diet programs and workouts.  These herbs can assist you to lose fat and are proven factors for speeding up metabolism.  Improving the body’s functions such as circulation, digestion, and elimination not only rid the body of excess fat but can lead to other long-term health benefits as well.

To lose weight you must burn more calories than what you consume during the course of your daily activities.  Developing a lean, muscular body and maintaining a regular workout schedule, will cause the body to operate at an optimal metabolic rate; this burns fat (calories) in the process.  If you are serious about fat loss, it is imperative that you consider adding fat burning herbs to your nutritional strategy.

Green Tea

Thermogenesis is the rate at which the body burns calories.  In addition, experts found that the catechins help to block the movement of glucose into fat cells and may, in fact, act as a glucose regulator.  This in turn slows down the rise of blood sugar after the ingestion of a meal. As a result, high insulin spikes, which lead to the storage of fat in the body, are prevented. Other research suggests that green tea acts an appetite suppressant. 

A study conducted by the University of Chicago injected lab rats with a green tea extract.  After seven days of injections the rats consumed 60% less food and lost approximately 21% of their body weight.  This was attributed to the blood regulating attributes of the green tea.  So the evidence points to the effectiveness of green tea as one of the many fat burning herbs that speeds up metabolism.  An additional benefit is its ability to help regulate blood sugar, which in turn, suppresses the appetite. 

You can turbo charge your fat burning even more by replacing your morning mocha or frappucinno with a cup of green tea instead. Imagine the calories you can save there!  

Flax Seeds

Flax seeds are an excellent food from the list of fat burning herbs; they are a very good source of omega- 3 fatty acids.  The body uses these essential fatty acids as the building blocks for making the type of good fat that the body uses to stabilize the blood sugar level.  The fact that it helps to maintain the blood sugar underlies its importance as a member of the fat burning herbs family.  Without a stable blood sugar level you would experience an increase appetite or food cravings because the body is missing the nutrients normally found in these fats. 

To alleviate this hunger many people consume high amounts of carbohydrates, which are found in junk foods like chips, cakes, and donuts, in an effort to satisfy their nutritional need.  In addition, because flax seeds are high in omega-3 fatty acids, it has a stellar reputation as one of the fat burning herbs that speeds up metabolism.  Again, eating the right type of ‘good’ fat gives the body a better chance of storing the right amount of fats.  This good fat promotes an increase in the body’s metabolic rate through  ‘thermogenesis.’

Thermogenesis is a process in which specialized fat cells, which are stored throughout the body and are called ‘ brown fat,’ burns more calories (fat) when activated by the omega-3 fatty acids.  Flax seeds slimming effects is an important part of weight control programs. 

Chromium

Chromium is another one of the fat burning herbs that speeds up metabolism and helps the body process protein and fat.  A recent study showed that patients who consumed 400mcg of chromium picolinate a day lost 6 pounds over a period of 3 months; and that the control group lost only 3 pounds. The study also concluded that the weight loss attained by the group taking the herbal chromium herbal supplement was in the form of body fat, not muscle.    

Although the science is not conclusive; it is believed that chromium aids in the regulation of blood sugar in one of two ways.  By binding both insulin and the cell to use blood sugar more efficiently, in effect helping to store the sugars as  ‘reserve energy.’   The chromium may lower the rate at which insulin is extracted, which helps to improve glucose tolerance. Keep in mind that insulin is not only a critical ingredient for helping the body to maintain blood sugar levels, but it also helps to speeds up metabolism.   

Cayenne

Cayenne is another food that can be added to your list of fat burning herbs.  One of its main ingredients, called capsaicin, is considered a themogenic substance that speeds up metabolism.  Researchers have concluded that capsaicin cause an increase in the core body temperature.  This increase in body temperature raised the metabolic rate and resulted in the patients losing more weight than the group who did not take cayenne.
